about the artist

Maria Sheets has been a painter for over 20 years.  Her works originate from small photographic collages that are then enlarged in oil onto well prepped substrates in a variety of media.  Maria has been a professional art conservator for over 14 years and is currently experimenting with the use of  new materials  and techniques used in conservation science. When these new technologies and materials are applied to the creation of paintings,  they prove to produce works that are far superior in structure to those made with traditional techniques.  Her content ranges from basic still life and portrait study to historic narrative.
